Aftercare

When a piercing is performed, a wound is formed on the body where the piercing was made. This wound, like any wound, needs time to heal. With body products from Bodymod, you can give your piercing and the wound the best conditions to heal perfectly. A perfectly healed wound completes a perfectly performed piercing. Below you can read more about how to best care for your piercings.

What are the best piercing aftercare products?

Bodymod offers a wide range of aftercare products. We have cleaning wipes for piercings, gels against bad smells, and even tattoo aftercare lotions. One of our most beloved, customer favorite piercing care products is the Holey Butt’r cream, which is best used for the care of stretched earlobes. You can use it during the stretching process to prevent dryness, irritation, and keep your ears hydrated. We also have Tea Tree Oil for irritation, Saline Solution for piercings, and Piercing Aftercare Spray, which is a universal spray that can be used both internally and externally.

Good advice on hygiene

If you have just had a piercing done, it is important to keep the wound as clean as possible. You should not tinker with the piercing. You should also not let your friends touch it, as inflammation of the wound can occur very quickly when touched. It is important to leave it alone completely so that it can heal optimally. If you have had a lip or tongue piercing, you should not kiss anyone until two to three weeks have passed.

Let your body do its thing and heal naturally. This doesn’t mean you can’t help the course of healing. Clean the area 2-3 times a day with saline solution for piercings, using a clean cotton pad. If you feel the need, you can also turn your piercing very gently during the cleansing but make sure to wash your hands previously.

You can exercise, but make sure to avoid irritation, for example, by covering your navel piercing or nipple piercing with a special piercing band-aid and wear breathable clothing while working out. Make sure to leave in the original jewelry until your piercing is entirely healed and ask your piercer to change the jewelry if you are not sure how to do it properly.

If you decide to remove your piercing, keep cleaning the area until the hole closes up entirely to avoid bacteria being trapped inside, which could cause a scar as a result.

Keeping all these things in mind, you should have a great experience. Just remember, many piercings require a different approach to aftercare. Oral piercings and septum piercings will need different types of care than an earlobe piercing. Keep yourself informed and ask for professional help when you feel the need to.
