It is not the material that makes your butt smell, but the only downside is that perhaps due to mucus, water, or the passage of time, it changes color to an orange (I'm talking about the silver model). But I still wear it!! The hinge is very good, because no matter how many times you put it on and take it off, it does not get loose or loosen up... I have experienced this with other hinges that become loose and eventually come off by themselves. This one is stiff and secure, plus it's easy to put on!!! I would buy it again!! In fact, I just got another one the same and another model "inca". Awesome!!!!!
